October 17, 2005. The response from Llano’s Mayor Roger Pinckney in The Llano Buzz does not even get beyond this acknowledgment. His numbers are misleading, is focus is selfish. His vision non-existant. Roger Pinckney’s time as mayor of Llano has been one complete failure after the next. Projects uncompleted…projects stalled…projects with no leadership. That disappointment extends now to the non-reappointment of Bryant Ratliff and Dusty Durst to the Llano Economic Corp. Board. The feud goes way past personal differences. Bryant and Pinckney care little for each other, and the disdain of Pinckney toward the Buttery family goes back to Henry Buttery’s organizing of over 150 people in Llano to go to Austin several years ago to strike down efforts to place a loop around the town of Llano. That humiliating moment for Pinckney and his 6 supports was not forgotten. The anti-business climate started out very subtle. But as Pinckney places new and inexperienced people on the LEDC Board, working projects will go to the back burner and progress will not be able to go forward.. One major source of funding for the Expo-Center went away last evening due to the Ratliff/Durst non-reappointments. Pinckney knew this. His plan to make life as unpleasant as possible for any sustainable growth in Llano travels on down the highway of apathy. The business group that was initially organized last week did not get going in time to save Ratliff or Durst. That group, will now be up and organized in a few short weeks, and has no interest in Alderman or Alderwomen or Mayors’ that have created this pathetic atmosphere that will not create a single job in Llano. The businesses of Llano will be organizing and will have a specific agenda spelled out for Llano citizens to study and decide in what direction Llano should travel. There may be folks out there that support the Pinckney agenda that includes not one thought of what is best for growth and advancement for all of Llano. The agenda of Pinckney and some council people is all for the purpose of
appearing You will see that Pinckney has an agenda, but you will hear about “broadband, and you will hear about saving the hospital. Both these are smokescreens, and discussed in great detail. You will hear about wanting to have builders’ build homes hear, but anyone involved in the past two years knows this is a joke. This is a council with not a clue. And the problem is you and I. Apathy, and wishful thinking that things will get better is worthless in an atmosphere like one that now permeates in the City of Llano.
