Dr. David Hoerster
was kind enough to come by and speak with me a few days back. Certainly not
a social call. David wanted to let me know that he supports the Regional
Hospital that is to be built in Burnet County and does not care much for
my articles in the Llano Buzz. He is not alone. Elisa Dalrymple Llano Chamber
Manager does not either, as she called the owner of the Llano Buzz and asked
that Mikel’s Thoughts not be printed anymore, and they agreed. My articles
can only be read here, or you are welcome to pick up copies at my office.
Hoerster feels strongly that a Regional Hospital will be built, and if it can be
done, then Llano should own it. David had a document according to him that stated
Llano would own the hospital in Burnet County, 100%.
Money made from the new Regional Hospital would benefit Llano. How it benefits Llano,
I was not able to understand. How a business that is successful like Llano Memorial
would be better if it were reduced to only a small entity of what it was before ….David
Hoerster understands this, and I do not.
Llano Memorial would be an emergency room facility in a few years. People in Llano,
and West of Llano would then go to the Regional Hospital. No guess on the employees
left behind in Llano.
I do not agree with David Hoerster, but I thank him for his input.
The Mayor of Marble Falls is off the board with excitement. I too have a misunderstanding
as to how he could be so excited about Llano Memorial having a Hospital in Marble
Falls, but it shows how much the Burnet County citizens want our Llano Hospital,
at any cost. Marble Falls is going to furnish the land, and the infrastructure. The
Mayor stated that the best place for the new Llano Memorial Hospital was near the
intersection of Hwy. 281 and Hwy 71. Llano Memorial has even adjusted its name to
reflect better its new location, Lake of the Hills Rural Medical Center. Projections
of profits could be in the millions, and a pipeline of cash back into Llano County
with this money could be unbelievable to us all. We are going to be rich!
I’m beginning to like this idea better all the time, but there is one fly in
the ointment. Llano Memorial Board Chairman Don (GET SMART) Adams is getting a few
of his stories wrong. In one local paper this week he thinks that this is some kind
of partnership, reflecting a kum-ba-ha sitting around the campfire sing-a-long. Adams
needs to read the document mentioned in the first paragraph of this article. Ownership…100%.
No partners. No holding hands. This is Llano’s hospital. Oh sure it will be
a little out of the way for a few of us to go down highway 71 to LMHC, but with the
profits we are going to be making, who cares.
Wouldn’t it be neat if they built that cash pipeline right in the right of
way of highway 71 so we Llano citizens could see that flow back to our county? Wouldn’t
that be neat?
